The Mâcon-Vinzelles 'Le Clos de Grand-Père' comes from a plot that belonged to Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret's maternal grandfather, who himself inherited it from his own maternal grandfather! The vines, with an average age of 60 years, are located at the bottom of the Pouilly-Vinzelles slope. They form a very old enclosed vineyard on a rocky vein of hard limestone, an ancient Roman road, it is said.
Terroir
Clay-limestone. East-facing exposure. The lower part of the Pouilly-Vinzelles slope, at the heart of the village of Vinzelles.
Vinification & Aging
Hand harvest, whole cluster pressing, 90% vinified and aged in stainless steel tanks and 5 to 10% in 228-liter barrels for 11 months.
